Editing you photos
Here is a simple way to improve your photos stored on your computer, without needing to be a computer genius!
Firstly, you will need to download a program called Paint.NET. Click HERE for a link.
This program is totally free, takes minutes to download, and offers soooo much!
Once you have Paint opened, you will need to go to the yellow file in the top lefthand corner to open your photo you wish to edit.
Once you can see your photo, go to 'Layers' at the top and click on 'duplicate layers'
Your photo will look the same, but you will notice you will have two pics of your photo in the 'Layers' box on your screen.
(If you have no Layers window up, just click on the Window tab at the top, and tick layers)
Now go to this Layers Box, and uncheck the bottom image.
Now go to the top of the page and click on the Adjustments tab, then Black and White.
You will see your image turn into greyscale. Next you need to go to the tools tab at the top, and click on eraser.
This will make your cursor into a small circle, which will erase anything you drag it over whilst holding down the lefthand mouse button.
You can alter the size of the eraser by looking in the header bar for a number, and increasing that.
Erase the part of the image that you want to be in COLOUR!
This would usually be the part that you want to stand out!
Once you have carefully erased all the bits you needed to, recheck the bottom box in the 'Layers' Window.
TA-DA!!!!
This is a fab way of toning down colourful photo's, without lossing those important details, and is great for making certain parts of the photo stand out.
DON'T FORGET TO SAVE YOUR IMAGE!!!!
Here is a LO I have made using this technique....
I now challenge you to use this technique to alter your own photo's for one point, and better still, create a LO with them for 2 points!
Don't forget to post you comments here, and images in the gallery under 'Forum Crop Pages - Lou's Photo Editing Challenge'
