Tutorial - Creating Swirls
This is a quick introduction to creating your own swirls on a scrapbook page or card.
You may need a template or printout of a swirl to help you, but I always go 'freehand'!
You will need: Cardstock, Pencil, Needle, Thread, Pokey Tool, Swirl Material (Twine, Ribbon, String, Wool etc.)
Firstly, draw your swirls onto your cardstock. Paper will tear easily, and holes will show more.
Then poke small holes through the card, along the lines. these need to be aroung 1cm apart. The tighter the curves, the smaller the spaces need to be between holes, and the straighter the lines, the larger the gaps!
Now, using a needle and fine thread (ideally clear), stich through each hole, around your swirl material, and back through the hole. Repeat this for each hole, until you have gone through all of them.
Now you sholud have your completed swirl! This method looks great stitched over a couple of layers, as i have in this LO....
I hope you have fun with this one!
To earn a point, I would like to see an example of you trying out this method on a peice of scrap card.
To earn 2 points, I would like to see a LO or card incorporating this lesson!
Please post all pics here, and any completed LOs/cards in the gallery!
